So today we had a semi early start for our trip to Avignon which is about a half day - 4 hour bus trip!
Contiki have been so reasonable with the stops and it always feels like the drives are so much shorter with the way they stop and let us see the local sites on the way, however after a big night a stop at a perfumery DIDNY really appeal many as we went into a little French town - which I think was called Grasse and learnt how they make their perfume - and found our noses burnt!!
We are the only tour (or one of the only) who actually STAY at Avignon on the way through countries as a stop over point. It is a beautiful place, the streets and atmosphere is completely awesome but there really isn't TOO much to do there. We got to stop for 2 hour stop in young, university town of Aix-en Province in - where I made sure I for a French nutella crepe before we crossed the border tomorrow! We didn't arrive into the actual city until about 3:30 and by the time the sun went down in Avignon people were ready to get onto the bus. The palace of the popes, lots of nice shops and just a nice environment to sit and chill in and soak up the atmosphere was awesome! I hung out with some guys I hadn't store that were really cool! Loving making new friends !
The days have BEEN beautiful but when the sun disappears - HELLLPPP!!
The hotel was the Ibis Avignon which good except for the breakfast and a nice way to end out French holiday before going to Spain!!!
For some people on tour this was the first early night as it was away from the city and we were advised to bring home dinner like cheese and wine and eat at the hotel - but with the hype of Spain we need alot of sleep before we arrive in BARCA tomorrow afternoon. 6 hour bus trip! WOO
