Tasha's Travels
Hi Everyone
I'm getting very lazy with these journals, but we haven't been up to that much really- still just playing in the sunshine!
We had a very eventful journey from Phi Phi to Koh Samui, a ferry over to the mainland, a bus to some other shop where we sat for an hour, another 2 hour bus to some other cafe where we sat by the road for 3-4hours, then another bus to the ferry port, and a 2hour ferry to Samui! We left Phi Phi at 9am and arrived into our accomodation in Samui at 9pm!
Our accomodation was also a bit of a surprise- we past all the luxury hotels and resorts and pulled into a carpark where all the taxis are to see a little house in the back- our hotel! haha It's actually really sweet inside and clean and literally the cheapest place in Chaweng Beach! But its quite a skill dodgey the pot holes and wiring laying about and weaving in and out of teh taxis to get out into the street in the morning!
We also had a bit of a surprise when we opened our 'locked' packs- both had been messed up and my stuff was in claires- and hers was all over the place, so someone at some point on our jourrney had raided our bags- fortunately nothing was stollen, but they were locked up and still were when we got them- so that was a bit freaky!
Samui couldn't be more different than Phi Phi- it feels like a huge city and you woulodn't know you were on an island- whereas in Phi Phithere were no cars and one little track through town and you were always by teh sea looking out to stunning bays and other islands.
Samui has Mc Donalds, Burger King, Pizza Hut and Starbucks- its a mix between huge luxury resorts which even rope off their ownm bits of beach. So on our first day we trecked along the beach to find a scrap that was ok for us plebs to sit on! While the holiday makers were massaged and rang bells to have food or drinks brought to them!
Everything is geard up for tourists, you have people constantly walking up the beach selling fruit, icecream, scarves, carvings tattoos- the lot! In the evening the town is really livley with street stalls and so many bars and restaurants. Its a lot more of a holiday place, where as Phi Phi was mainly travellers and backpackers!
Despite that, we've been having a good time, relaxing on the beach and we even found ourselves some nice sun loungers for free so we had a taste of luxury as well! Its really buzzy at all times of day here, so we have been into a few of the bars as well and wandered the markets- seen some gorgeous fake handbags- but i must resist!
Tonight we're off to a Thai night, with dancers and buffet at one of the nicer resort hotels! So that should be a bit differnt. Tomorrow we're hoping to dothis tour day trip all over the island to waterfalls and temples and lots of other intersting places- so can't wait for that!
But we still have plenty of cool trendy cafes and restaurants we want to ehad to, with seating on the beach with lots of cushions and fire dancing- so thigns are very chilled out at the moment! NOt sure how long we'll be here for yet!!
HOpe everyone is well back in the Kingdom!!
Love tasha
