13:01 in the afternoon and Me, Pippa, Marcus and Jason have not long arrived on surffing turf, Koh Tao. We're in a shady bunglaow home that's unbarably hot- we don't have aircon or any kind of luxury really, other than the fact that we're near the port so now treking around with backpacks when we leave...
We did a 14 hour bus journey to some boat port somehwere where we caught our Lomprayer boat (or whatever it's called) which ferried us to the island. Bless Jason, he paid for mine and Pip's tickets and the bungalow tonight to help save our own shallow pockets- us girls are on a serious budget.- so in hindsight, I can't be complaining about our room with no A/C. I'm sure we'll only be here for the night then we'll move on.
I can't believe it even still, but me and Pippa seen a mate from London, Jaz on our boat to Koh Tao. Such a mega surprise! I knew she was making way to Koh Phangnan for the full moon a day before us and at the same time as we were going to Koh Tao but I wasn't aware that the boat to both islands was going to be on the same route. Madness!
Jason and Marcus both have some kind of come down with sickness bug or just a nasty hangover, I'm not quite sure which after all those Mojitos at our group parting in Bangkok! They've both been violently sick the whole day the poor things... (currently crashing out on mine and Pippa's bed as their own bunglaow has'nt been cleaned for them yet). Pippa is in the shower and reports that its cold water only, joy!
I think we're going to leave these sick puppies to it and head out to the local beach. Tomorrow we'll leave for the party island- Krabi and Samui may also be on the cards now too so we'll see where we end up...
More about our last night on the tour: So the beginning of the end started in Bangkok's SkyBar- the whole group minus Cindy and Michelle who didn't want to come and Scottish couple Sara and Daniel because his shorts apparently weren't a match for their house style. Poncy lot! It was such a shame but they chose to leave the group for a few hours and encouraged us to still rocket ourselves up to the bar in the Thai sky as we were all suited and booted.
The bar was breath-takingly amazing- I think it was 64 floors up and wow was it a view to be seen. Panoramic city views and even a live piano set on one of the terraces... Jazzy, snazzy, expensive stuff!
My drink: 'Same Same but Different' was definitely just that! A waitress recommended it, I stupidlly oblidged- I wasn't nice. end of story...
From the Sky Bar, it was back to our hotel to meet back up with the others and make our way to a street food place near by- cheap and cheerful- quite tasty too, I got a spict prawn dish!
We ended our evening in the backpacker district, formerly known as Koh San Road... busy, touristy and even more of the cheap stuff. We all let loose, kept the buckets coming in and danced our last night away together in a small regee bar that caught mine and Pippa's eyes and ears.
Many Mojitos, arguments and a moon later, me and Pip met up with her exhange student lodger and friend P. She kindly offered to give us the grand old tour of her home city before we took off for the islands. We went to the Palace, china town, tried some Durian fruit and went to a lovely tapas place overlooking the river. I was really glad I forced myself up after hectic and messy last night with the group.
Now I'm off to jump in that cold shower Pip was shouting about and then I'll join her in the sun for a quick bake and leave the boys to recuperate :)
