It's been five days of enjoying Koh Samui and I've done some truly truly amazing things and met some truly amazing people I hope to see again at some point in my life again.
Basically, to recap and mention the stuff I didn't get chance to on my last entry: me Jaz, Pippa and Kent drove to a place just outside of Lamai (It may be in Lamai even- I'm not quite sure) Anyway, it's a beautiful, hidden and tourist-free waterfall called Hin Lad. Jaz and Pip rented a motorbike out and I just hopped onto the back of Kent's...
It's hilarious and also lucky depending on how you look on it that on our way, we stopped at a fruit stall on the side of the road to buy some fresh pineapple -(the best and most sweetest on the island according to Kent), it was scrumptious! We got two bags of fruit anyway and me and Kent took off expecting the girls to follow. Out of gas and unable to follow we returned to find the girls still in the same spot at the pineapple stand. - Had to wait a long time for the bikes to be changed over but soon enough, the four of us headed back onto the road fully loaded with gas and heathy snacks.
The journey to the waterfall was around a 40 minute stretch up hill and over numerous rocks and fallen trees. Some of the route was paved with a clear and easy soil path but a vast majority was merely a guessing game- having to keep our eyes peeled for snakes...
When we finally reach the water, its relatively quiet: a few couples dotted around but they didn't stick around for long so the entire spot was mainly ours for the taking. I was sweating when I finally reached the top so I didn't hesitate in lunging myself into the fast-flowing, bikini pulling water- it was so nice!
The scene was idyllic with a fresh smell and calming nature about it. I spotted some unusaul creatures in the corner of my eye but I wasn't scared at all, more liberated! I felt so at home with our foursome too, the converstaion just felt so natural and chilled.
Having spent all day so easily at Hin Lad, we moved on to spend the sunset and evening near the grandfather and grandmother rocks- well known in Lamai (google it if you're interested). We then went to the Rock Bar to unwind some more with some soft reggae beats- the opposite kind of vibe to how I ended the night in Chaweng with Stephen, Bom and a drunk Pippa and Jaz.
Since then, we've all chilled out really. Jaz's friend Max has finally showed his face- we've been expecting him a few days now. He's joined the SeaBreeze gang after a tour in Vietnam and Laos himself and we all headed out, with adopted SeaBreeze pal Harry, to the night markets and some bar stalls. To be brief, our plans to take the boys to the rock bar as we enjoyed it so much the night before ended up in a massive group of young travellers being ripped off and lead a stray back to s***ty Chaweng. - 50 Baht each in a group of twelve and another 100 baht each to get us straight back to Lamai once we realised where we had been taken!
Giving up on the rock bar a few of us settled on a dip in the sea/chill on the sand by our bungalows to end the night, that was that and this morning was the day we finally left the magical island Samui for our journey to Hua Hin. Emotional!
Just waiting for our overnight train now, feeling a little glum. We've been at the station for hours- it's 5pm and our train is due in at 23:30pm so we're currently sat in a shop with wifi and my phone battery is struggling on a weak 8%.
I might take this time to fill out the postcard for my mum. I can't wait to see her now if I'm being honest in my reflective and downbeat mood- Leaving Koh Samui has really had an emotional affect on me and Pippa haha... :D :(
