I can't quite think of the last point I left off on but quite a bit has happened since my last entry. So we finally parted ways with Marcus and Jason and we headed to Ko Samui by boat (I've been spelling it wrong the whole time). With the whole group dynamic in turmoil it was sad but also an exciting break to venture off independantly.
Anyway, two Ausies down, me and Pip arrived in Samui all hot and bothered with no plan of action either. We dived straight into a travel agents for some direction and found ourselves on a wild goose chase hunting for the 'cheap' hotelthe lady recommended to us- which actually turned out to be expensive and completely out of our limited price range. So onto our second cab ride around the island our driver, bless him, suggested a quaint and budget friendly place in Lamai, we trusted him and agreed for him to take us so to the SeaBreeze we went....
It's now four days later and we've averted all plans to go to the Krabi island because we love it here.
Our first night in Lamai was quite a random one. We were sat in the reception/dining after soon after check in as it was a wifi hot spot- not minding that the other guests were all having a buffet/function style meal in the centre of the room. SeaBreeze manager Piya soon approached us, offering us some food and quickly fixed us a free plate of everything on spread. It was a good and all because I remember that night and I was starving at that point but I wasn't letting on.
It turned out that the meal was a spread organised by Piya for his long returning guests who have over the years become dear friends of his, how lovely and instantly welcoming to learn that people here are so inviting, friendly and family orientated- we immediatelty felt accepted.
The celebrations carried on well into the night for a lot of the people a the SeaBreeze. Me and Pippa feebly attempted to keep up and go out for drinks but we were shattered and we're admittedly, the first to leave a group of 50-60 year olds minus us two (well I do wonder to be honest).
The second night at the Breeze then; Jaz came- and is still here too! We have been treating ourselves to some massages on the beach and have been having some amazing girlie chills. Me and Jaz went to the Big Buddha for a sunset opportunity. - anti climatic but it was nice to venture out a little. (I'm still waiting to see the perfect, dream-like Thai sunset but I'm not sure I will with it being Monsoon)
Evening time, us girls all went to the local night food market, joined Kent (A new american friend we met at the SeaBreeze on our first night) and met some more interesting travellers: couple Stephen and Bom who are Hawaiian and Laotian and Fred- another American. They've all been travelling around for years which was fascinating to hear about, and inspiring too!
I'm slowly getting up to speed now... So yesterday we spent doing pretty similar stuff to the second day only a Muay Thai boxing match was on in the market square so we went to watch a couple of matches (with the same people). We then moved on to Chewang (the party place)- Stephen and Bom drove me, Pippa and Jaz there for a night out.
We went to clubs: Green Mango and Sound- both a load of rubbish in my opinion but I never enjoy chart pop and getting overly drunk. My two mates were incredibly drunks and upto all sorts of naughty behaviour but that's not to embarrass them on here, their pictures will tell a thousands truths haha.
-not Jaz's pictures actually as she lost her memory card she discovered that night. Didn't she cause a big drunk fuss. I've got to love her for it the diva!
We got in at 6:30am this morning and with a little sleep, got up early to book another nights accommodation at this place- we just can't get enough! (Onto the fifth night now).
Now before I go to the beach, I must make sure I pop into a travel agents to book mine and Pippas boat and train to Hua Hin.
I'll be back later on for another update as this entry has been a long one- I've got some more good memories to write about :)
WE LOVE LAMAI
