Hello everyone, ok alot has happened since my last blog.
So, after Joburg we headed to a little twon called Nelspruit where me and soph went to a backpackers called Funky Monkeys, our first night was interesting as we was sat with a gay south african guy and a typical english blue blooded toff! they were debating about issues from princess dianas death to communism, aliens and the government, to be honest most of it puzzled me so i just sat and listened. The morning after it was a 4am start - which may i add was awful! But the safari which we got up for was amazing, we were told by several people we met on our first journey that we wouldnt see anything in 10 hours. Ha! we must just be so good we saw the big five and about 25 other animals, from hippos fighting, giraffes, snakes, elephants, the list is endless, but it was awesome! That night we went back to our hostel on the biggest high ever only to find our cleaner (heres the pun) cleaned us out!! the cheeky cow stole clothes out of mine and Sophs backpack and then broke in our locker to steel the rest. Soph was really shocked as her bra went missing too, but she was even more stunned what the cleaner was going to do with it as the bra wasnt big and her breasts needed a hammock!!
From Nelspruit we went on the bus to Durban, which i liked alot, the place were we stayed, was with a WIGAN couple who went there 30 years ago, so i had hugs all around haha. The nice wigan man took us to a Zulu experience morning, were we saw the Zulu tribe dance, soph nearly sold me for 11 cows which she thought was brilliant as the best deal she got in Egypt was 4 camels, but she has decided to hold that one as she is sure she can definately get a better price haha - dad do not fear, if soph gets her way i may not be coming home! Later on that day we went for a paddle on the beach and went to see the football stadium in Durban which is a world cup venue, oooooo all the footballers get me :)
The next 2 days were.....boring, it was long long long bus rides to the other places so we could get to Cape Town by tuesday before we had to start out journey back to Joburg. Our long journey finished yesterday and we arrived in Hermanus, which is apparently one of the best whale sites in the world! It may have been safer to go on a boat looking at pretty whales, however, i decided to have a different experience. I decided to go on a great white shark dive haha (momma you can tell grandad now i have done it). So at 6.15am i was picked up and driven about 30mins away and then we had a short boat journey for about 20mins out and we stayed there for 3 hours. I have never experienced sea sickness before in my life, but let me tell you it is not a pretty experience hanging your head off the side of a boat with great white circling around it, i kept thinking they were going to jump out the water and grab my head...luckily the tuna tempted them away. After i managed to compose myself i was told it was my turn to dive, i was that excited to get off the boat, i almost broke my leg running for the chance haha. So, i got in the cage with three other people and the guy put a weight on my shoulder to stop me floating (now a tara comment came up at this point as i was totally bewildered why they would want me to sink haha, but it was just to keep me weighted in the cage). I waited 5 minutes, 10 minutes and we got nothing apart from two birds which really like the tuna bait and a few fish, i was already for giving up and a big black blog jumped out of the water almost as high as the boat and grabbed the tuna! it is seriously a biiiiiig fish!! so then after that i was on a high and i wasnt moving from the cage to start being sick again, so i stayed to see a shark come up to the cage having a look about and then to see a seal being chased by one, it was really one of the best experiences i have had.
anyway im going to get a shower now as i have come straight on here after my dive.
lots of love xxx
