It was a very strange feeling crossing the border into NT. As most of our trip to date had been spent in WA, we now realised that sadly that part was over. After spending such a long time exploring WA, it gave us great appreciation of just how big a state it really is.
After visiting the territory numerous times on school camp, we sort of knew what was coming and what to expect… but in saying that, there are still many places we hadn't visited.
After a few full on days of driving and going flat chat, we pulled up in Katherine for a few days for some R & R… Yeah it's a hard life not working, but it's still tiring. We checked out some of the art galleries and market stalls. Tristan even found a coffee van with some hipsters working in it… he knew it would be descent coffee and he wasn't disappointed. We didn't end up going to the gorge as we have both done it and we thought we would keep the funds for another activity.
Then came our final day in Katherine. Tristan had noticed that Larry was getting a bit lazy in his ability to run the car fridge… so we knew one of his batteries was on its way out. But when we were ready to leave… Yep the starter battery decided to go. Luckily we had RACV...who connected us through to NT Roadside. They were out in a flash and had us going. We still needed a new battery though and after testing the auxiliary battery we soon realised we needed two. So close to $500 later and we were back on our feet ready to leave for Darwin!
