After an early departure from Alice, we arrived at Kings Canyon. Although we have already seen it before, we wanted to experience it together…without 120 school kids! Our drive in was spectacular, where all of the wild flowers were in abundance on the road sides.
Well we can say it was stunning! Tara relived some fond memories that only people who attended Central 2013 would know and understand. Let's just say the first climb up the rim of the walk is a killer, but Tara survived! The gardens around us on our walk were full of brightly coloured wild flowers. It was a beautiful contrast in the desert setting. Everywhere you looked there was colour.
The Canyon was as stunning as every year before, and without the students it gave us the chance to creep just a little closer to the edges to get a better look.
We spent the night at Kings Canyon Resort campground- where we had a view of the canyon, literally on our doorstep. The sunset was incredible- we can't wait to go back!
It was well worth the drive to see this amazing place, draped in wildflower bloom.
