Back home in Perth!
So I finally made my way back home, back down under, back to Australia! I didn't tell anyone I was coming home as I wanted to surprise a lot of people. My sister knew of course, she was the one that had to pick me up from the airport! Anyways, it was really nice to see her again. She hadn't changed really, same ol sister. Anyways so I spent the day at my sister's place doing my washing and watching Grey's and Heroes =p My sister had invited my parents over for dinner that evening and while she was showing them around the place I came down the stairs! My mum froze on the spot and pointed at me and then said "what? what are you doing here???" Then the hugs came from both parents. It was great to see them and we all enjoyed a nice family dinner.
Since my room turned into a bit of a storage room I ended up sleeping in the spare room (and still am). I decided to clean out my room and throw out a lot of clothes and items that I really don't need anymore. Before I left they were "my stuff, my things to keep", then I came home, had one look at my room and thought it was all crap! haha funny how your mind changes after being away for a long time. I won't go into so much detail about my room, pretty much it's still a work in progress.
Anyways the best part of coming home was not only surprising my parents but surprising my friends. I went door knocking at some of my friends' houses and got the best reactions ever. (The videos will soon be up on my blog and facebook). Kris thought I was dinner as he had ordered takeaway not long before I came to his door. So he came to the door with 10 bucks in his hand expecting to see the delivery boy! My other friend Chris was also very surprised. I visited him the night before his brother's wedding so his mind was very busy with wedding stuff. When he opened the door he was so shocked to see me he froze on the spot until Sue told him to give me a hug (Sue was my videographer). We also staked around the corner outside Chris's house until he arrived home from doing wedding stuff with his brother. We waited about an hour in Sue's car! haha but it was great catching up... girl talk and all! I did some phone call surprises messages which were also fun... ooh I love surprises. Still have yet to catch up with everyone, but there is still time. Though I didn't really give myself enough time to settle in before starting work again. I'm back into full time work at Curtin, my old job. So still doing the same thing. Working at Science and Engineering Student Services doing enrolments and all that sort of stuff. But I started working after 5 days of being home... yea so stupid! After my first day of work I was so drained and tired! I went to bed at 10pm! and that's really early for me. The thing was getting my body used to routine again and settling back into this reality life. Yes it's hard work after having no routine for like 4 months, but my body is good now and used to getting up at 6.30am every morning and working. I have no car now and hence the early rising as I have to catch the bus to and from work every day. My sister has taken over my car and she needs it more than me so there you go... at least I'm helping the environment by catching the bus and I'm getting my 30mins of exercise everyday by walking to the bus stop and home again.
Oh and I was hoping for great warm (even hot) weather when I got home cos November is usually quite good weather but man was I wrong. Something went completely wrong with Perth's weather this year. It was stormy, rainy and windy with a couple of warm days here and there. I left Europe to escape the cold and rain and I came home to it! But now the weather is getting much better, we're averaging at mid 20s and slowly climbing. Had my first BBQ (since I've been back) on the weekend with Eric and my sister, we had nice lamb chops and great weather then sat at the park listening to a jazz band.
The weekend before that I went to a friend's wedding and caught up with many friends there. Was so nice to see them all and catch up on the last 16 months. The wedding couple (Clare and Marvin) were so beautiful and it was such a lovely day. It brought a tear (or many tears actually) to my eye when I saw Clare walking up to the gazebo. She was so beautiful! and then during the ceremony when they were saying their vowels to each other (ahhh I almost balled my eyes out)... Both Clare and Marv looked amazing and the day couldn't have gone any better. Even the weather was perfect. It was a lovely night with great people. I can't believe you're married Clare and Marv! Congrats!
Anyways to sum everything up. It's nice to be back home spending time with family and friends again. Even though I've been away for so long, now that I'm home doing the usual stuff and seeing the same friends I always see it feels like I never even left. It's like the last 16 months never even happened! It's quite sad really, cos it went so fast it felt like it was just a dream. Well it's still good to be back and I know that my Europe trip really did happen and cos I loved it so much I'll be heading back there. That's right! I'm going back to Europe at the end of April next year so I'm only here for Summer really. So I will be making the most of this Aussie Summer. Anywho I think that's enough of an update for now.
