Wow what a day it's been! Never again!
Didn't have to leave until midday so took our time this morning. Finished off packing before going down to the hotel's restaurant for lunch for the last time.
Just as we finished our lunch and were paying the bill a man came in and asked if we were going to Bangkok, we said no so he went off but I then had a feeling that it was for us as Hua Hin is just south of Bangkok. Turns out it was for us and one of the men who worked at the hotel ran after him just as he was about to drive off! He was very angry! :/ He was early so we didn't think it was for us plus he should have made it clearer but never mind! Picked some more people up. He drove for a couple of hours and we were dropped off at a place where we were told we had to wait for 20 minutes.
After a while a bus arrived so we got on it. We all assumed it would be going straight to Hua Hin. But nope it wasn't. It wasn't a great bus, water was dripping in various places and it had to be where I was sitting too! Luckily it was almost empty so I moved. It was okay for the rest of the way thankfully. Was on it for a couple of hours before arriving at Surat Thani. There were lots of stops to pick up and drop off locals.
Once we arrived at Surat Thani we had to get on a tiny bus/car (not sure what it's called!) which took us to this place where we were told we had to wait 45 minutes. There was this chihuahua that kept yapping the whole time! It was a cute looking thing though. Got some dinner whilst waiting. It was home cooked so it was nice! I had Pad Thai which is one of my very favourite Thai dishes.
A minibus came to pick us up. We thought wow, how can we managed to cope in this for 8 hours! But nope it wasn't the final transport - it took us to yet another place where we had to wait a bit longer!
Our final bus came, finally no more changing! Or so we thought anyway. It was so uncomfortable! The seat was too high so I couldn't reach the floor properly. Plus water was dripping on me - yuck! I found a spare seat in front of me, luckily, so I moved and it was so much more comfortable! I could reach the floor and there was no water dripping!
We got dropped off at 2am and we thought wow, we're early! But nope we weren't in Hua Hin! We were in a place called Pran Buri which was just before Hua Hin. Grrr! Pippa was feeling so sick and Hannah has a bad cold which didn't help! We asked a few people if they could help with finding a taxi but they were so unhelpful! Came across a really lovely man who helped us out and told us where we were etc. He helped us get a bus so we had to wait 45 minutes for it. There was a really annoying cat who kept biting our bags and playing with our things. I love cats but that one was driving us all crazy! The bus came and drove half an hour and dropped us off outside our hotel. FINALLY checked in at 4am!!
Never again! Getting a flight to Chiang Mai for sure!
