In Easter Island! I cannot believe I'm actually on the world's most isolated bit of land! Totally different here from Santiago; the atmosphere is just amazing.
Had the worst sleep last night, the pillow was so uncomfortable, and that made all the difference! I'm not keen on hostels now, I have no idea how I managed before! I think I've been too spoilt the last 3 weeks. Oops!
Decided not to bother with the walking tour as it would be a bit of a rush getting back to the hostel in time to get picked up for the airport plus I probably wouldn't understand anything that would be said and I'd be much quicker on my own. So followed some of the routes the tour was going using a map. Yes, I decided to use a map this time and I'm glad I did! My opinion of Santiago has improved slightly but still not overly keen on it.
Walked all over Santiago and visited a couple of places and then came across an appropriately named nightclub; Amnesia! Totally true for many people who can't remember their drunken nights out!!
Went for lunch in this fish restaurant right in the centre of the Central Market. Had swordfish with a glass of wine which was lovely. The waiter was overly friendly though and kept giving me compliments every time he came to my table which got a bit annoying at the end lol!
Went back to my hostel afterwards to be picked up by a transfer shuttle to the airport.
Whilst waiting to board the plane, it noticed there was a cafe in front of me called Tamarugo. I was like thank you, I shall :p (I translated it into "Tamara, go you!" if you didn't get it.)
The plane was massive, didn't think so many people would be going all at the same time! Was allocated a seat by the aisle which was ok. Was next to this fat man who was by the window. Then he moved somewhere else so I was like cool I have the row to myself! Nope, a girl came along and sat in the man's seat. Then she moved somewhere else! So waited until just before we took off before moving to the window seat and thought brilliant now I've definitely got the row to myself! About half an hour into the flight a man was moved next to me! I've never seen that many people change seats in a short amount of time lol! So unfortunately I didn't get the whole row to myself :( but got a window seat at least!
The flight was just under 6 hours; longer than I thought it would be! All the blockbuster films had Spanish subtitles! So I had to watch a South American film to be able to get English subtitles! They weren't all bad, some were good.
Landed and the air was so warm when we stepped outside. The airport is tiny but has a great feel to it. Waited for a while before my bag came through. Some people brought their pets with them, especially dogs. Felt so sorry for them having to go through such a long flight stuck in a basket with the luggage and then going round the belt! I would have left them behind, it would be kinder!
Found my airport transfer and was greeted by him giving me a necklace made of flowers. (I forget what the proper name for it is!)
My hotel was less than 5 minutes from the airport which was lovely! Got greeted with a glass of juice of some kind which tasted okay. Got shown to my room which is really lovely. Got a free Moai shaped chocolate too. Will taste it tomorrow and see if it's nice!
Cannot wait for tomorrow. Got a full day seeing lots of things. Very excited for the next couple of days!

Louise Nolan So pleased to hear you got into Machu Piccu. Yay! Sounded like musical chairs on the flight. So envious of you visiting Easter Island as that's one place I would love to visit. Looking fwd to reading about it & seeing photos :-)
