Well last couple of hours in Hanoi. This crazy town has definitely kept us on our toes. As the government appointed guide said when it comes to the rules of the road they "freestyle" which means middle of the road, wrong direction and cutting people off are all acceptable all with accompanying horns blaring soundtrack. I can't recommend this city enough if your in Vietnam but only becasue everyone should experience this madness once. Oh and while your there why not sample some of the coffee our lovely guide took us to a hidden coffee shop (i think it was called Giang cafe) to try this Hanoi specific treat. They basically bring out a small cup of coffee in a bowl of boiling water. The coffee itself is cold but the water takes the edge off. It's a tasty mix of thick cream and coffee with an amazing caramel aroma and lovely rich sweet taste. Totally worth a try for the bargain price of 20,000 VND. Also a very nice man from Saigon helped me and Mary buy my new shoes, converse for £7 don't mind if I do. Who cares if he bottom says size 8 and the tongue size 9. The best thing about being in Vietnam is all the seconds are pretty good quality. Oh well off to the train station now for the overnight train to Hue. Laters xxx
