We woke at 5.30 had some breakfast and said goodbye to uncle Ivor and Auntie Jan ( :( ) and departed for out 8 hour drive to Melbourne. The speed limit was 110kmph which felt much more natural than 100 in NZ. We took turns driving and breaking regularly with a McDs ( :( ) for lunch. The journey didn't necessarily feel very 'Australian' as it was green with lots of trees. However, I did see a few kangaroos ... Well ... A few half kangaroos on the road! ( :( )
We arrived in Melbourne at 5.30 after 10.5 hrs of driving. We met Gareth upside his flat parked and went in. Gareth and Garth went to school together back in Port Elizabeth. Gareth is married to Sara who is Australian and they met whilst working in a pub in Thames Ditton! They had a lovely modern flat and a cute dog called Elizabeth-Ann! Sara made a yummy vegetarian curry with nom nom cake for desert. One of Sara's friends joined us with a bottle of wine and all got to know each other! ( :) )
