It is with great regret that I must once again write from my sick bed. I appear to have had a recurrence of the serious tropical illness I caught in Hong Kong. It is showing slightly different symptons this time. The skin on my back has gone bright red/pink and I am feeling a burning sensation. Clearly beri beri is setting in. On the drive into Mission beach we saw a cassowary at the side of the road (as it turned out the only one we would see apart from the large fibre glass one - despite going on a search in the forest for them) and lots of road signs telling us to watch out for them.
