My second stop in Bangkok is now nearing its end. I have stayed two nights in Wendy House, which is a nice guesthouse located conveniently next to main shopping areas and less than half hour walk from Finnish embassy. Single room costs 1000 Bath here including the breakfast.
Yesterday I collected my new passport from the Finnish embassy. Then I made once again a mistake by trusting Google Maps. I walked about five kilometers to the Imigration Office just to find out that it had moved 28.09.2009 to a new location about 20 km from the center. As I had the new address I then went to the main railway station and took a local train to the nearest station. It appeared that the Office was not even near the street its address was and I finally had to take a motorbike after having walked about 10 km totally. The transfer of the entry stamp from old passport to the new one required those two passports, one letter from Finnish Embassy, application form, four photocopies (signed) of passport pages and five layers of bureaucracy plus about three hours of waiting. On the way back I took the taxi and paid about 250 Bath for it.
This afternoon I will take the train number 35 all the way to Butterworth in Malaysia as previously planned (one day later though). I have to travel once again in the upper bunk, which is not really made for people my size. I will propably stay in Georgetown in Pulau Penang for a few days and then return to Phuket one way or another before Dec 22nd.
