Next morning, I got up and had a look around Byron. Decided that I'd go surfing so rented a board and headed down to the Main Beach. Waves were quite good, so I ventured out amongst a mix of actually class surfers and average newbies, of which I was one!! Spent the next couple of hours attempting to surf.... managed to catch a fair few waves but also managed to bail quite hard on a number of occasions- even had the fin run over my thigh which really bloody hurt!!!! Eventually gave up and headed back to the hostel to find on facebook that Tom would be joining me in Byron that evening... he was getting the bus down!!

Went for a bit of a walk towards the Byron Heads (walk actually proved to last about three hours and was hills aplenty!)... went to the most Easterly point of mainland Australia and the lighthouse that looked out over the seemingly endless Pacific Ocean!! Eventually made it back to the hostel, before meeting Tom at the bus stop. Bought a few beers to drink in the hostel before we went to a club which absolutely stunk of damp. With the next night to be a big one, we headed home to crash out.

Next morning we got up and hit the beach... weather was glorious!!! After suncreaming up, I decided to pull my shorts up to get a bit of tan on my bright white thighs, but forgot that a) i hadn't put any suncream on them and b) they hadn't seen any sun at all. By evening I had badly burned particularly the back of my thighs... with a HUGE tanline happening... see photo taken later in Sydney!!!!

That evening we met up with Will and Ben... drank way too much Goon in our hostel (so much that Will didn't make it out... he crashed out in Tom's bed!) before heading out... I didn't last too much longer, but crashed out at some point inmy own bed!!!

Next day, we weren't able to get a night-bus that evening to Sydney, so we had to get on a 12hour day bus... feeling... a little delicate from the previous nights exploits!! So on we jumped... and sat out the day on the Greyhound!!

Arrived in Sydney around midnight and, despite doing our best to shop around for a cheaper hostel... found a YHA not too far from the centre and hit the sack!!
