Today we had an ok breakfast at the Sanctuary villa and then a bit later at the day, we took a tuktuk to see and ride the legendary Bamboo train, while it still exsists here. Guess its last times are at hand already. 10$ for about an hours' ride (if you have your own "train"), not such a bad price. It takes you to the next station, which takes about >30-40 mins/way, stops to the station for about 10-15 mins, where you can buy f.ex. a can of beer if you want. There's coupla vendors. The one in which we went was an old couple keeping it. Granny without teeth and so on, heh. And children about 10 yrs old who spoke fairly good English (and one of them a little bit German as well, hah). Good business there, as its the only station where all the tourists stop to turn the train. ;D
It started to rain when we got to the train, so it turned out to be a very wet ride. :P But fortunately it wasn't cold, though. It was a fun ride, despite the rain. You can see how the rails are bent from here and there, with holes, too(!), but it doesn't matter. And at least our driver went pretty fast sometimes :D
And of course, since being a one way rail, when another one comes from the opposite direction, the other has to step off the rails, so the other one can pass. And the one with fewer passengers on, has to step off. So we did that quite many times. ;)
We also gave our trains' driver a small tip, since one guy owns the bamboo train and the others are just drivers with very small wages, I'm sure.
Soaking wet afterwards, we asked the tuktuk driver to take us back to our hotel to change on some dry clothes.
After getting some dry clothes (whoch felt awesomely nice ;), we took a tuktuk again to the Nary Kitchen restaurant, where we decided to eat tonight.
And it turned oit to be much better place, than the Smokin' Pot! Very nice, equal quality food. We tired 3 recommendatins from the owner: chicken curry, chicken with basil and fish with sweet&sour sauce. All of them as spicy versions! Basil chicken turned out to be the most spicy. 3$/portion. A little place, but nice. Do go there, as in Battambang there's not much good restaurants in general, but this was one.
Afterwards we just bought some water and went home, since at about 8.30pm almost the whole town was already shut. Tomorrow, to Siem Riep!
