Thought it was time i updated, as you can see ive made it to Monkey Mia but before telling you about hanging out with the dolphins i need to back track. When i left Perth i headed for Geraldton. Not much to do there and not many people around so spent my time chilling out and read a book. THere was a nice beach but it was to windy to sit on it!! From Geraldton i headed to Kalbarri. Again there was a nice beach but to much wind!! I meet 2 Swiss girls on the bus and we ended up in the same dorm. I also meet a girl from Germany. We all did a hiking and canoeing tour in Kalbarri National park, which involed hiking down in to the gorge of the Murchison river and then canoeing through it which was good fun and some good sights to take pic's. It was very hot and when climinbing back out of the Gorges i reahed a point were a thought i was going to pass out!! There was no shade so you couldn't stop and take a break without the sun beaming down on top of you. Luckily still had plenty of water so kept pouring it down and finally made it back to the truck!! I was exhausted that evening but went out for pizza with some of the guy's from the hostel. No time to rest the next day as off i went horse riding (even though my legs were killing from the hiking!!) It was along the beach and although it was a mixed group we split up several times so the more experienced could canter. My horse was called Mr Ed and was a little lazy!! It was good fun though. Afterwards we got given a free beer voucher for one of the pubs so me and Katie (the german girl) and Leon a guy we also meet at the hostel headed for the pub!! From Kalbarri i head to Monkey Mia!!
Monkey Mia consists of one holiday resort, a stunning beach with white sand and clear blue sea and lots of friendly dolphins!! They swim right on the shore line and if your swimming they often come right up to you. Unfortunetly i was not one of the lucky one's to experience this but when sat up in the bar i witnessed it several times, they also bring their babies in with them. In the morning you can watch the dolphins been feed, they only feed 5 of them but between 7 and 16 dolphins can be seen swiming around. THey only feed them in the mornings and only a small amount of their daily intake so that they still have to hunt for their own. I was lucky enough to be picked to feed one of the dolphins which was a great experience you put th fish into the water and the dophins takes it from your hand.!! I meet a girl - Kim who was volunteering with the doplhins which means she helps with preparing the fish and assisting with feeds - how cool!!. The 2 swiss girls, Grit and des'ere had also come to Monkey mia at the same time so during the day we all hung out together under the palm tree's as to hot to sit on the beach!! MOst evenings were fairly quiet and the bar closes at 10pm!! But one night there was a live band which was good and after we had a big party down near the beach!! THe next day me and Kim went kayaking for 3hrs along the shore line which stretched for miles it was beautiful saw several stingrays and while i was paddling in the sea when we had stopped for a rest Kim told me calmly to get out the water but of course i screamed and ran out the water wondering what was there, apparantly it was a hugh sea snake!! We didn't stop again and remained in our kayaks!!
So after 4 days of chilling with the dolphins i headed to Coral Bay. A beautful beach but not much else around. I arrived at 3 am and left the next day at 3am other wise i would have had to stay 4 days as the bus does not depart daily here. So didn't have time to go snokerling which is what Coral bay is all about but i plan to do this in Exmouth where i will spent 4 days and i think it is a bigger place than Coral bay so hopefully more to do. It was sad leaving Coral bay as Grit and Des'ere had also headed this way but now we go different directions. We went out for dinner together before catching our buses which was nice.
