YIPEE I made it to Darwin!! Only 26 hours on the bus from Broome. It soon went by after sleeping on and off during the night and then watching several DVD'S during the day, which i got to pick!! . I was up the front with the drivers as there are 2 who split the driving, which i was glad of as some dodgy people on the bus that night and also had someone to talk to. A few stops over night were a bit dodge as lots of homeless people come out the bushes and gathered around the bus begging - i remained on the bus and was glad it wasn't my stop as some people had to get off and wait for a shuttle bus. Afew thunderstorms along the way and the lightning was amazing lighting up the whole sky. Wasn't so keen though when we stopped for breakfast and it was still pouring got soaked just from getting off the bus and into the road house!! Well the temperature was ok but very humid. Had a couple of days just chilling out and exploring the city though nothing exciting to report. The beach was nice but unable to swim in it due to it being 'stinger' season!! I then took off to Kakadu National Park for 2 day. WOW - Its beautiful, very green and most areas still dry - the wet season has not kicked in properly jet as most off the roads we used become flooded and unpassable so lucky for us as got to go to some amazing waterfalls though had to hike 6km to get to them and it was alot warmer in the park and not much wind. It felt like heaven when we got to jump in the water!! But my poor feet have suffered and once again covered in blisters :( My favourite part of the tour was the 'Spectacular jumping crocodile cruise' and they really did jump out the water and it was spectacular!! Saw a few just swimming by then they feed some off the side of the boat which is when you see them jump, how exciting!! Though some of them would come up to the boat but it was to much effort for them to jump for the meat so they just swam around. Also during the tour was visited a cultural centre and also did a 1 km walk around some caves and looked at some aboriginal paintings which were fasinating. Kakudu N.P still belongs to and is run by Aboriginals which i think is amazing as its such a great place and can't believe its not been taken over and turned in to a money making park pushing the Aboriginals from their home and land like in so many other parts of Oz!! But if the Aboringinals wanted to they could stop anyone entering the park and nothinhg could be done about it. Also some clans still exsist and though don't live quiet like their ancestors they do still live within Kakadu in out houses and some still follow through with some of the traditions. We then headed back to Darwin where we went out as a group and had a meal which was good fun though cut short as i had a flight to catch!! Next stop Melbourne...................
