Just had to add a Porto door.
We woke to overcast skies and drizzly rain so decided our best option would be to buy a hop on hop off bus ticket again. They're not ideal - the commentary is often out of sync with where you are - but it gives you and idea of the city layout. We spent hours on the road, through heavy traffic at times, covered the whole area. It fined up late in the afternoon so we headed for the Douro River foreshore to take a boat trip along the the river to check out the five bridges. The buildings on both sides of the river range between well maintained, and in some case fairly large, to tumble down ruins. You can see the different styles built over the last 700 + years. The various shapes and colours added to the eccentricity of the city. We just love it.
Like Lisbon, there are many impressive monuments and statues. Many of the buildings are ornate and imposing. Again lots and lots of tiles used throughout.
