This is a pic of the outside of the Palace of Charles V.
Alhambra was sensational. It's officially called the 'Monumental Complex of the Alhambra and the Generalife' and is about 142,000 square metres overall. We spent hours wandering around the Alcazaba - fort section of the monument, the Generalife - a palace/recreation area constructed for the Kings of Grenada so they could escape from official routine from time to time. The gardens particularly were stunning and would be glorious in spring.
The three Nasrid Palaces required ticketed entry and were an amazing array of decorated rooms and courtyards. The tiles and carved patterns on all walls just kept on going and going and going. Mind boggling. Some of the ceiling were carved wood.
It was quite late when we finally left Alhambra in time to catch the 7pm bus back to - or so we thought. There was a huge line to the only ticket office open and, after 40 minutes and 25 minutes after the 7pm bus had gone, we had an 8pm ticket in our hand. Alas, this was a 'milkrun' bus and it took three hours to get back to Cordoba.
