Basilica Santa Maria Del Pi in the Gothic quarter of Barcelona.
Construction of the current basilica was commenced in 1320!!! and was completed in 1391. The majestic rose window is one of the largest in the world and is beautiful.
We managed to sneak in (with permission of course) to check it out and it's spooky to read the dates on some of the gravestone set in to the floor - one was 1671 and another 140?. Today they're crowd funding to keep the church maintained.
The area surrounding Santa Maria is a rabbit warren of old buildings. Many of these still belong to the church. We wandered around absorbing the very history of the place. Sooooo old.
