Hey think i last updated in Cairns but not since so Im slacking a bit, sorry. Must be the laid back Aussie culture catching up with me. So I arrived at Gilligans (on recomendation) and after waiting 4 hours I finally checked in. I know I was tired and had just woken from a three hour kip on some random sofa but no jokes, Boyd from Neighbours was checking in in front of me. Im assuming he was with his girlfriend. From what I could make out they were staying 5 nights and checking in under the name of Stevenson so if someone could check the Neighbours credits and let me know that would be great! I was very tired from my three flights but surely! Anyway after some more sleep I caught up with the girls (from Asia) and we had a night out in the world renowned Woolshed. No sheep involved- just some goldfish racing- don't ask (one of the girls also saw Boyd out so its been confirmed!). Was slowly coming to terms with the fact there was no longer any tuc tuc's or bartering or crazy noisy traffic! Although I miss the food big time, and the cheapness, there is something to be said for shopping - I canactually fit in to the clothes and I don't have to argue my way to the price. Aussie Rules I guess!
So benefits of a big group = hire car. No organised tours for us- yay!!! We headed up to Cape tribulation in our self drive hire car which was more like a space wagon with enough room for an extended family and a few family pets. Spent a night at PKs hostel with the girls and in the morning got up early for a walk in the rainforest with resident tour guide Trev- obviously! Climbed up lots of rocks and had tea and cake on the top as well as swimming in local waterhole which was freezing. He pointed out loads of kool flora and fauna and most interestingly I licked an ants bum....he told me the aboriginies useds to do this to get vitimin C so I thought why not hey. The ant was still alive after too! Thought about stopping in Port Douglas, on the way back down on thursday but as the weather was getting bad for reef trips and Ive done one 1 before decided to head back down to Cairns. Decided to leave early in the morning on the Greyhound headed for Mission beach. Quite honestly we didn't leave the resort at Mission. Scotties was amazing and (thanks to Kirsty the crazy pregnant lady) - and just what I needed! Just chilled out for the day and walked to the beach to take a photo. No need for any crazy money spending. I still feel spoilt over here everythings so easy too- love the Greyhound aswell. Left for Townsville yesterday and today I came down to Airlie Beach for my boat trip. Can't wait for my sailing trip tomorrow!! On a boat called Condor and I just cant wait to get on the water!
Aside from being deaf in one ear- loving Airlie. Its got a good feel about it even though its packed with what they call 'schoolies' - year 12 leavers - theyve just finished school and come for a holiday. Watched the news last night and I think surfers paradise is best avoided at the moment- how old are they 16? Anyway its going to be good.. will prob be here till sat!! Major mission for this week is to watch Neighbours and catch up on the goss... sad but hey it has to be done!!! Happy days!
