Hello from Bali,

Arrived in the middle of the night after a ridiculously long flight from London and a change of planes at Singapore. It is so ridiculously hot here, and those that know me well will know how much I love the heat!! Spent the first 2 days in Kuta, which is a total Aussie surf bum resort. So many touts shouting at you in the street it was a bit much. Got hideously lost down the back alleyways in the middle of the midday sun and thought I would never find the hotel again.

Now in Ubud which is an artsy village up in the mountains. Heard a rumour that it was cooler up here but I think that is a blatant lie! Just sitting still I'm pouring with sweat. Hotel is set in a ravine which looks like it is in the middle of the jungle. Not too sure about all the bugs though, oh and the lizards. Think I'm already looking forward to the snowy part of the trip!

Visited the monkey sanctuary this morning and have decided that monkeys are evil and definitely do not need a sanctuary. Was attacked by one which stole by 1.5l bottle of water, baring in mind the monkey was about the same size as the bottle. It said on the entrance don't bring in food but they failed to mention that the monkeys steal water too!

So I'm mostly just trying to avoid the heat here, can't walk much further than about 500m without feeling like I'm dying! Going to stay in Ubud until my flight on Sunday night to Darwin. Wish I could expect some relief there but last I heard it was 30 degrees there!
