Day 16 (i think)
Venice
Starting to lose track of the days now, especially after today when we travelled on nearly every form of transport devised by man.
We started the day finishing off our Paris sightseeing by catching the metro to Montmatre and then the Funiculaire railway to the top where the Basilica Sacre Coeur stands. The view from here is amazing. You can clearly see the Eiffel tower and the Arc and most of the buildings that stick out in the Paris skyline. After looking around we headed back to our hotel on the metro again. We always get good at these public transport methods just as we are about to leave.
We have a bit of time to kill and it's raining so the girls and I finish off our souvenir shopping while Phil uses the internet at the hotel.
(2 forms of public transport so far)
After a quick bite to eat we head off on our journey to Venice by public transport.
Step 1 - walk with 3 bags and hand luggage to metro station and catch packed metro
Step 2 - get off metro and walk through underground tunnels to main Paris train station
Step 3 - get on Paris regional train with luggage and lots of other people.
Step 4 - ride train to Charles de Gaulle airport hop off and walk to find terminal
Step 5 - we're early so stop for maccas wifi
Step 6 - check in at Easyjet and get through airport security. No customs it's all very easy.
Step 7 - tell Easyjet lady that Maddy can't sit by herself and get priority boarding. (It's free choice seating and we weren't even on the queue)
Step 8 - fly to Venice. On this trip we fly over the Swiss alps and can actually see them clearly from the plane. We also fly right next to Venice
Step 9 - retrieve bags and find bus stop 5. Get on packed bus with bags and girls and get a seat for 20 min drive to Venice.
Step 10 - find waterbus 2 to take us to San Toma. This is an amazing trip down the main canal and under the Rialto Bridge.
Step 11 - get in trouble from waterbus man for putting our bags on the seat. Get off at San Toma and walk the streets of Venice at 9:45pm trying to find our hotel
Step 12 - find hotel. All is well. 7 forms of transport conquered. First Italian pizza consumed and ready for bed.
So how was your day????

Annie Greg says he thinks you missed the horse-drawn carriage!!!! Very exhausting!!! You are starting to sound like seasoned travellers!!!!!!! Ciao!!!!
Lyn and Warren Peters you should be so lucky - it beats running around in the rain getting soaking wet!! Did the water bus man tell you off in English?
