Blog by Sue: After 6 months of waiting, we're finally off on our long awaited family holiday to Vietnam.
After a very early start (4.30a.m) with an 8 o'clock flight to Singapore we were on our way. We were very fortunate to probably have the best seats in "cattle class", right at the front of our section, so there were no seats in front which meant more leg room!
Having a 3 hour stop in Singapore meant a great chance to do some duty free shopping. I think Steve has only just recovered.
It was only a short flight from Changi to Ho Chi Min (1.5 hours) & after a long wait at the luggage terminal (Daniel's was one of the last to come out) we were picked up by our driver.
What an experience driving through Saigon on a Saturday night. There were literally 1000's of scooters on the road. People will tell you about it, you can see it on the TV, but you really can't comprehend the chaos of Saigon traffic, until you've been in the thick of it. It wasn't unusual to see parents with one of two kids on board with them & all manner of strange cargo. Steve spotted one guy's passenger nursing a TV.
Steves footnotes: I can only describe Saigon traffic like someone split open a beanbag in a spa pool. Total chaos that seems somehow fluid.
