It's been 11 years since our last departure through an international gate. Also our latest departure at 11.20pm 😴 A bit daunting seeing AFP carrying assault rifles in the terminal but I guess that's the way things are now. Uber driver to the terminal was Daniel; a lovely young bloke who's family was originally from Sudan. Spoke 4 languages and his wife was named Sue! What are the odds. Hoping to get some zzzzz on the plane before we hit Singapore at 5am ...

After our drive from Newcastle to Canberra, our first stop was to go & check into our hotel. After dropping off our luggage, we headed off to Cockington Green. It's about 20 years since Steve & I had been. We certainly noticed a difference.

Trying to stay focused & get packing. Keep finding other things to distract me from the job at hand lol.

Two sleeps till we head off on our long weekend trip to Canberra. We haven't taken Daniel there before & we thought it would be a good chance to take him to the Australian War Memorial. As we are off to Vietnam in Sept/Oct school holidays, we wanted him to get the Aussie's experience of the Vietnam war before he's exposed to the apparently very confronting & biased version in Vietnam.
