The journey to Ollantaytambo took us through the beautiful scenery of the sacred valley for around an hour before we arrived at our hotel.
We checked in and got ourselves sorted before going into Ollantaytambo to explore. It's a quaint village with cobble streets, burbling water courses and yellow stone building. The main attraction is the huge Inca terraces and store houses built on a number of the mountains which surround the village.
After strolling down one street with pretty flowers and a flowing river to one side, we arrived at the railway station at the end of the village. We knew this would be where we would be returning by train in the coming days after our epic 4 day trek to the lost city of Machu Picchu which gave it a certain interest.
With the trek looming large tomorrow we decided it was in our best interests not to do anything overstrenuous and to relax for the afternoon so after lunch at a cafe and stopping for some last minute supplies at a small shop, we headed back to the hotel. Not before a little walk around the market which contained such delights as a pig's head, a cow's head and an unknown animal's lower jaw.
Dinner was had early and enjoyed by the whole group at a restaurant whose speciality was delicious wood-oven pizzas.
