Well we are back in LA now tho we are flying out to Hawaii a bit later, so very excited :)
For the past week we ahve been on a tour with 10 other people that went from San Francisco to LA. We started off with a quite sight seeing tour of SF and then headed to our camp site with a couple of stops on the way. We were originally meant to be camping in Yosemite National Park, or near it, but the forcast was for rain or snow so as a group we deicded to camp in Sacromento, which was where the start of the gold rush was and also is the capital of California so we went to see the City Hall place where Arnold Schsneger is Governer (I have no idea how u spell his name u i'm sure u know what i mean!)
We pitched our tents and had some dinner and then took refugue in the games room til 9 as it was really cold outside. We had a good game of fusbal even tho me and caroline were completely beaten by Mak and Xaver!
Then it was soo cold that we headed to bed.
We woke up the next day freezing and had to set off again by 7am! so it was an early start. We drove to Yosemite where it had snowed the night before (lucky we hadn't been camping there!) It was really pretty with all the snow. We walked to a couple of water falls and took lots of pics of the snow as there was about 2-3ft of it in some places :D
Then we made our way to our next camping spot near lake isabella, we stopped for pizza on the way as it was already late and dark and we still had to put tents up when we finally got to the campite. We managed to stay up a bit later as we had the warmth of a some-what small campfire and our Tour guide Jason tried to keep us entertaied with his laser pointer and some green powder that he put in the fire to make the flames go greeny-blue, tho it only lasted a couple of seconds. Then we headed to bed, again another cold nite :(
We woke up in the morning to discover a layer of frost on out tent!!!
We packed up and headed to Death Valley. It was really nice and hot here and there was know one around, we sat in the middle of the road and took pics! We also stopped and played on some sand dunes :) Then it was in to Vegas and a motel fot the night which was good as we got double beds to ourselves :D
In the evening we got ready and then got a limo along the strip to the largest TV that is on the ceiling and spans 3 blocks, we watched the show there and then got back in the limo and cruised back down the strip, stopped to take pics of the 'Las Vegas' sign and also ran through a posh hotel/casino to use the 'restrooms' then we finished our limo ride at one end of the strip. Some people decided to get a party bus back to the motel. This was going to cost $20 so Mak and I and these 2 german ladies also on the tour decided to walk back. We were told it was 2miles so figured it wouldn't be that bad! We were wrong, it was well over 2mile and took us 2hours to walk back at a good pace as well. But it was good too as we actually got to see Vegas and take pics of the lights and things!
The next day we had a new tour guide, Reza and we headed off to Grand Canyon, via route 66 through Arizona. It was a long day of driving. We stopped at a cool like town in the middle of nowhere which was almost stuck in the 50s and we had some food at this weird cafe called the Snow Cap, but it was really cool too. Then we finally arrived at Grand Canyon and decided that as it was going to be a cold night again that it would be better to have 4 of us in a tent so it would be warmer, but as Mak and Meli were putting the rainsheet on there was a rip as Meli pulled it :s so we had to switch rain sheets! We had sandwiches for dinner as we had had a big lunch and then sat round the campdire talking. This was a better campfire than the onewe had had on the 2nd night! Despite having 4 in a tent it wasnt any warmer :(
The following day we were due to have a gelicopter ride over and then through the grand canyon at 12.30, so we spent the morning walking the rim trail of the canyon and taking lots of pics of us stood on the edge! Then ujust before 11 as we were making our way back to the meeting point fog started to fill the grand canyon and then it strated snowing and it got heavier and was properly snowing! So with that our helicopter ride was cancelled :( so instead we went to the IMAX, and saw a film about the grand canyon, which was good, tho made me a like travel sick and I came out of it felling a little green :s
We then had a long drive through the desert to lake Havasu, the roads were small and windy and this increased on the travel sickness feeling :( so i ended up sleeping for quite alot of it :( We reached our campsite which was rite by the lake but it was extremely windy so we deicded to go get dinner and then hope that the wind would die down and we could then put our tents up. We watched the sunset over the lake adbn then went to Red Robin for dinner and then luckily by the time we returned to the campsite the wind had died down a bit and we pmanaged to put our tents up :)
It was a really warm evening and we were able to sit outside and chat without our coats and a campfire! It was like normal camping weather!
In the morning I woke up to see the sunrise which was nice, it was so quite and peaceful. We then headed to Joshua Tree National Park but had to drive through desert to get there, yet more windy bumpy roads :s but this time I was prepared with my travel sickness pills :)
We spent a bit of time walking round the park and did a mile loop walk through the hidden valley, it was really really hot. We then headed to LA and spent some time in Santa Monica on the pier and beach and we saw some dolphins in the sea :D
Then we went out for dinner to Buca's which was a funky place, but food wasnt that tasty as it was italiana and there was cheese on it :(
We finally reached the Holiday Inn LAX where we had a massive room with 2 double beds that were sooo comfy :)
The following day they did a LA city tour but as me and Mak had done it before we got dropped at our hostel. we wondered around Melrose Ave adn did lots of washing so we finally have clean clothes again :D
Then we got chatting to one our roommates and it turned out she was from Bristol! and then another one of roommates came back adn we chatted to her too and then the four of went out for dinner which was really nice.
Woke up this morning and packed, now we are just trying to waste the next hour til we get picked up to go to the airport to Hawaii! Cant wait
Sorry for the mammouth of a entry but we have done sooo much and this is only a brief look at it!
