So we're all all home again, safe and sound. Emily begins her new job with Medtronic next week, David continues to juggle his many design projects, Eric is off to Pittsburg to begin his fellowship in Critical Care and Mike and I are enjoying the rest of our summer before beginning the LAST of our working careers. A typical family at various stages of life...all pursuing our dreams, sharing the ups and downs with each other when we can and looking forward to the newest member of our family and first grandchild....baby GIRL Watkins!
So what happened to the potatoes? When I first decided to write this blog, encouraged by my brother Bob, I thought the title about potatoes was perfect...all I heard about was we were going to be drowning in potatoes. Plus, my mother and grandmother use to recite that verse...one potato, two potatoes etc. So much for rumor...we did have a modest amount of the wee white starchy things but not close enough to warrant a title. Yet I have decided not to change the title. I will let it stand on its own acquiesing my innate compulsion to have continuity in my writing (thanks Grammy).
In the years to come I hope this blog will help remind us all how fortunate we were to have this special time together in a faraway land, walking the roads of some of our ancestors, feeling a wee more Irish and experiencing a deeper connection as a family than we had before we left.
I guess we did, after all, find the pot of gold.
Thanks everyone, that was good fun!
