It's Saturday morning and as we left Thunder Bay the town was fairly quiet. The locals were doing the usual weekend things; brunch, walking and some were racing RC cars around a cool track with jumps. The freeway heading NE was a good road but the speed limit was only 90kph! We began today by heading for what the locals call the North Shore. We followed the lake heading vaguely North. We passed through small communities which mostly looked to be supported by small tourist enterprises, accommodation, restaurants, shops selling curios, wild rice and smoked fish. Today has been a bit brighter. For the first time in days it's not raining and though cool there has been some sunshine. We started the day by taking up the kind offer of a town tour from Boomer, a local fish guru. He turned out to be a very entertaining bloke who showed us much of his town some of which I know we wouldn't have found on our own. Aug 19th Just for a change it was raining this morning lol We left our hotel and headed north. Passing the twin cities we could see little through the dense clouds and heavy rain. Not a lot has been happening since the last blog. We left Chamberlain SD and drove to Minneapolis Mn. The whole drive it rained, the sky an unrelenting grey. We passed a lot of crops, mostly soy beans and corn used to manufacture bio-fuels. Most of the small settlements were centred around the railway line and the processing plants.
