We woke to a lousy day, drizzly rain, clouds low on the mountains and cold. At 11am it was 2C! We set off today for Lake Louise. We again followed the railway line, the same one that carries the famed Rocky Mountaineer, a trip I'd always thought I'd like to do but now wonder if we've not seen the best of what you'd see on that anyway. We had a pretty bad nights sleep. The person in the room above us watched TV til 3.30 all the while stomping around. No idea how they did it but they were then up at six to do some more stomping before finally heading out but it was too late for us to go back to sleep. On the road through Montana, cowboy country; cattle ranches, small domesticated bison herds, lots of horses, some sheep herds (obviously for their wool not meat as we've still not seen any lamb for sale) farmers working the fields, wheat farms with big silos and hay paddocks being cropped.
