After 6 great nights in Melbourne it's time to up sticks and move on again. It has been my lifelong dream to visit the United States and in 15 hours that dream will come true as I'm about to board my flight to Los Angeles.
My final day in Melbourne was yet another one to remember. After an emotional goodbye to Jimmy (he's going to laugh at this!) It was left to Jimmy's Dad John to look after me.
What a great job he did! If you ever get to read this, thanks for everything John.
We first went on a tour around the MCG which is the main sporting stadium for the city which is currently dominated by AFL but will be home to Cricket when the summer comes around.
Next up was a visit to the eureka tower which is the tallest skyscraper in Melbourne. It provided great panoramic views of the city.
After a great $10 risotto and red wine lunch we took a walk over to Melbourne prison.
We had a tour of the watch experience which is where prisoners are taken overnight. There was an actress playing a sergeant who did a great job and made the experience very realistic. The prison is also where Ned Kelly was hung, a legendary Australian outlaw.
On the way back to the train station, John took me to see ACDC lane (pictured) which is a street named after the famous rock band.
We arrived home in time to catch the football league highlights. I spent the rest of the evening relaxing as the neighbours night proved well over budget at $40 a ticket!
I'd once again like to thank everyone who contributed in making my Australia trip so enjoyable. I achieved everything I wanted to in Aus; surfing, sightseeing, held a koala/snake/croc and put a shrimp on the barby. I'm certain to return as there's plenty more to see and do and two weeks is never long enough to do it all.
It's now time to board my flight and hopefully by the time you read this I'll be in LA living the dream.
