Another 48 hours have passed on this fantastic trip and the adventures just don't seem to stop.
I have reached Brisbane where the weather is much more like what I'd expect to see in Australia. Although not quite as scorching as south east Asia, temperatures of 25degrees makes a great winter!
I have managed to catch up with my friend who I worked with in London, Andy (AKA Fellaini - he used to look like the Everton player until he had his mop chopped).
On Saturday we'd arranged a night out. I was advised to buy some jeans, shoes & a shirt as getting into places may have been a problem. It's a long while since I've been concerned by such dilemmas however the up side is that I've never felt as well dressed in the last 3 months.
We drank various schooners (3/4 pint) until the early hours and it was great catching up as I hadn't seen Fellaini for 2 years.
We arranged to go surfing yesterday up on the Sunshine Coast where his parents live. What a beautiful place this was and his parents place was unbelievable.
I received such a warm welcome as within minutes I was indulging in Grandma's scones and a cup of tea.
Then it was time to surf. This was my first ever surfing experience and I'd never expected it to be so difficult. The surf wasn't great apparently which made it even more difficult. I managed to catch the motion of the waves, but standing up proved far too difficult for the first day.
At least I looked the part as I got out the ocean with my surfer dude hair style and Paul's (Fellaini's brother) wetsuit on.
Fellaini took me on a tour around Mooloolaba which is a beach resort (pictured) more for tourists than surfers. We had dinner before driving back to Brisbane city. What a fantastic day this was, one that I'll never forget and I'd like to thank all who made it so special.
Today I'm paying my great uncle Bob a visit who lives in a place called Keperra which is around 35 minutes away from where I'm staying in Roma Street. It will be great to see him as I've never met him & it's 40 years since my Dad last saw him.
