I enjoyed a fantastic final day in Sydney.
Four of us went on a day trip to the blue mountains. Despite having to get up at 5:30 and after some early morning panicking about getting there on time, the day went smoothly.
We started off at a little town/village called Leura where we enjoyed some morning tea.
Next stop was echo point which provided fantastic panoramic views of the blue mountains. The blue mountains gets it's name because of its blue appearance; in addition eucalyptus oil dissipates off the leaves and the sun shines through the droplets of oil causing a blue haze. The scenery provided truly breath taking views.
Next point of interest was Katoomba falls (pictured) which was also located in the blue mountains.
Also in the blue mountains was scenic world which paid host to the worlds steepest railway cart at an angle of 37degrees. We also took a cable cart ride and a short jungle walk.
We moved on to Featherdale wildlife park which was a fantastic experience as I got up close to Koala bears and fed Kangaroos who were roaming freely throughout the park. We also saw crocodiles of which I was more reluctant to get so 'up close' & 'personal'. The park also housed a Tasmanian Devil which bears very little resemblance to the cartoon I grew up watching.
To finish the tour off we went on an evening cruise from the Olympic park to the city. As the night set in, this provided excellent photo opportunities although I could really feel the Australian winter chill.
On our way back to Bondi we called in at the c*** and bull Irish bar near Bondi junction. This turned out to be my one and only pub visit during my time in Sydney (another excuse to come back!).
I'm sure I'll make up for it tonight as I meet up with my friend Fellaini (Andy Smith) in Brisbane for some catch up beers and a lads night out! Apparently the weather in Brisbane is much warmer, almost swimmable!
As I reflect on my time in Sydney, I'd like to thank the girls for being the perfect hostesses. It was a great introduction to Sydney and I managed to do everything on my schedule in such a small period of time.
This morning as I wait for my flight at the airport, I indulged in my first Hungry Jacks, which is probably the biggest rip off of Burger King possible. They even name their burgers Whoppers. Very tasty though.
Roll on Bris Vegas!
