As Ron Burgendy would say "Good Morning San Diego".
After a whirlwind two week Deep South/Miami trip, it's now time to kick back and relax as I returned to the place I currently call home, California.
I landed in San Diego on Tuesday, a place I didn't have time to see last time I was on the west coast.
Having taken a shine to the jeep I have rented one once again this time in Red.
I've also made 2 new purchases in the form of a surf board & wetsuit. That means two months of unlimited surfing without the hassle of renting the equipment.
I have also partaken in another form of surfing, couch surfing in fact. For those that haven't heard of it before, it's basically people giving up their couch for a few nights for me to sleep on. It's a way to save money and also a great way to meet new people. Also it's handy to have someone who knows the area well to show me around.
I spent the first 3 nights in the University Heights district, which is a few miles from down town. It wasn't too far away from Ocean Beach (pictured) which is where I purchased my surfing equipment.
Due to a heavy rainfall on Wednesday, the surf on Thursday was far from ideal. I know that you're not supposed to take to the water the day after a rainfall, but I just wanted to get my new wetsuit wet!
Yesterday was far more successful. Once again down at Ocean Beach, this time with my friend Marco who I met and surfed with in Santa Barbara. I have also met a new surf buddy called Zack.
Last night I checked into the USA hostel downtown in the gas lamp district. This is where Marco was staying. We had a great night out however it was a little hampered by cover charges and doormen not letting me in places with just my drivers licence.
Today we took a walk down to Seaport village and the harbour area which was very scenic and provided excellent photographic opportunities.
Tonight I'll be back at Ocean Beach, couch surfing once again for the next couple of nights. It feels great to be back on the free and easy travel and not really knowing what's happening next on this incredible adventure.
