Welcome to Miami!
After a hectic 10 days on the deep south tour, it was fitting to end this two week break with the parents in Miami.
This is where I originally planned to end my trip and return to the UK. Fortunately I won't be finding the tallest building and jumping out a window just yet as I have decided to prolong the trip till 14th December.
I have decided to return to my new home (California) and aim to surf my way up the coast (both on the water and couch surfing). I have no exact itinerary other than my flight to San Diego tomorrow (the way travelling should be).
I can't say too much about Miami as we have mainly used these few days to relax and recharge the batteries.
We stayed at the Dorchester Hotel Suites which is probably the last taste of luxury I'll have in a while. We upgraded to a Suite as we were originally in a two bed (technically singles) hotel room. As much as I love my folks this was a little too close for comfort and it's the best $50 a night my Dad's ever spent (thanks pops!)
We have alternated from lying on Miami beach (pictured) and the hotel swimming pool. This is literally all we have done during the daytime.
On Saturday evening I decided to go out alone on an organised "drink all you want" bar, then a limousine to a nightclub. Unfortunately I made the most of the "drink all you want" part and can barely remember the rest. All I know is that I was in a limousine dominated by a batchalorette (hen) party, we went to Mansion nightclub and I got back in one piece with all my belongings & clothes! The sign of a good night I suppose!?
The rest of the nights have just been chilled out and it's been great to make the most of the family time before we go our separate ways.
It's now time to restore what little street cred I have left after travelling with the parents. All joking apart it has been great to catch up with them and I have enjoyed every minute of this tour.
My aim is to become a world championship surfer in the next two months. San Diego here I come!
