Broome is the so called back packer hub and what seems to me to be the largest town/city we've been to since leaving Perth. It's full of campervans and hippie types.
Cable beach at Broome is nice really wide and stretches for ages, camels wander up and down (surreal) we enjoyed the beach and also the appearance of shops again and a bit more life!!
There was a much stronger aboriginal presence here and not in a particularly good way. I had been told that the abbos can't handle their drink, well it was more than apparent here, they are slumped in drunken stupors all over the place more so at night admittedly but I can't quite understand how it's tolerated. The bottle shops are attempting to control how much the abbos drink by making the only boxes of wine available in 2L rather than the 5L you get closer to Perth, if you buy Goon you can only buy one and your purchase is entered into a computer with proof of identity required, it must be quite a big problem.
We all had a huge goodbye party on the beach as some people were staying, others were flying off to the East Coast, etc. The night was great we had another fire, no one told us off, bloody good send off to everyone really!
We can't get a working visa while we're in the country we have to apply outside so we have to leave. We're thinking about selling the vans really don't know what to do. Do we fly from Darwin to Bali, which we're not that bothered about visiting just yet (had enough of that for the moment)or do we go to the East coast and fly from there to New Zealand. Either way it's major km's that we need to drive..What to do, what to do, what to do…….
