So I've now been "resting" for 6 months, and its just 3 weeks till I take off for New York. I made a list of the bits and pieces that I still need to do before I go, and it now has about 20 items on it. However, there is no big stuff left on the list. The biggest item that I've recently ticked-off is selling my car and am now driving a small hire care which I will drop off at the airport on my way out.
Most of the stuff left on the list is to do with getting the flat in a reasonable state before I leave. I've already taken maybe 4 car loads of stuff down to the rubbish tip. This includes things like old phones and about a dozen assorted chargers for things that I don't have anymore - you know, the stuff you hang on to "just in case". Well it's all gone now, and it feels really good - very cathartic.
On the getting fit side, I've now lost about 35 pounds and few of my clothes fit me now. It really paid off when I went with my parents for a week to the Lake District. I was able to get two fairly strenuous walks in; one of which was up Helvellyn along Striding Edge. Magnificant.
It struck me that I've be so focused on stuff to do before I set off, that I've really very little planned for what I will do when I'm travelling. This is fine, in that I don't want to plan to far ahead, but I wonder if anyone has any suggestions for what to do in 4 days in New York? If you have any ideas, please let me know.
Cheers,
Steve

Jon Travers 35lbs fat loss...well done! All the best.
Martin B. Hi Steve New York, from memory: wander around Central Park, Broadway at night, some shows at Broadway, some music in Madison Square Garden, I guess nowadays Ground Zero. PS: I am jealous about the weight loss. Have good travels.
Steve P. Thanks for the suggestions Martin. By-the-way, I'm hoping to be in San Diego on about 6th September - does this coincide with any of your trips over there?
Kit Jordan Hi Steve, How long will your stay in San Diego be? Just the one evening? Should I plan a BarBQ for that evening? Let me know. Looking forward to seeing you soon. Kit (858 775 3227)
Steve P. Hi Kit. I'll call you when I'm on your side of the pond. This time tomorrow I'll be taking off :-)
