So I'm still in the planning stage for my trip. I've got a few first-cut itineraries, my preferred one I've loaded on to this blog site. I need to match this to a rail trip in India. When I've got these aligned, I can start spending some money to book things - at which point this all becomes Very Real .
One disappointment is that these round-the-world tickets don't seem to like Iceland! I do want to see Iceland at some point, but I may have to do that as a separate exercise. On the other hand, one added bonus is that my flight from the Philippines to Thailand is via Singapore, so I'm planning to add Singapore as a 2-day stop over.
Another oddity is that Fiji fits better with these round-the-world tickets than Hawaii - but that's OK. Since I'll be spending a bunch of time driving across the US, Fiji will possibly provide more variety on the trip than Hawaii, and they are both small remote islands in the Pacific.
While waiting for the trip to start, I've already started my fitness regime. I'm currently going to the Gym 3 times a week, though my trainer says that I should ramp that up to 4 times a week. Mind you, I suspect these trainers do have a sadistic streak in them (no offence Lauren).
Once I've got the major tickets bought, I need to start on the Visa's. Oh joy - more paper work.
