Left Nice loaded with goodies from our hostess and thunder and lightening from the city. For once the TGV behaved and it was relatively straight forward. Although prior to boarding we were in the wrong queue, mild panic and the TGV was very looooong. Felt like we clocked up half a km there.
Reached Paris (13:00hrs) - it was not thought provoking at all, rather non descript.
Being the Kiwis we are thought we would find our own way to the hotel as there were continuous queues for taxis. Bad bad idea - unsavoury, homeless and traders straddled our path, language barrier and a map that didn't show the street name of our hotel. TAXI TAXI sil vous plait!
Our Hotel room number 'Franck' & one next door 'Anne' (cute), skinny lift, sep locked bathroom, a place to put our baggage, and a bed to lay our heads (eventually). Bravo! Zoomed out the door with our cameras and off to discover Paris (14:00hrs)
First stop - tube to Notre Dam and the search for Quasimodo and of course a gelato. We had watched the hunchback of Notre Dam before we left NZ. So it made it very real. He was elusive however; probably on vacation.
Next we followed the Seine in the general direction of the Eiffel Tower, taking in the sights, sounds and beautiful buildings of this bustling city. We saw the Louvre (from the outside
