Day Twenty. Barcelona, Spain.
There is something wrong when you have to get up at 6am to be ready to leave the ship at 7.30am, especially when it also means the cruise part of our holiday is over. We have had a great time and were sad to leave the ship when we docked in Barcelona. However, we do have three full days to explore Barcelona.
After catching a taxi from the ship to the hotel Monte Carlo on La Rambla in Barcelona, it was 8:30am, and we were ready for some breakfast. After coffees, hot chocolate and Spanish donuts we are ready to start exploring. We bought the hop on hop off bus tickets for two days to get us around the city, but first we caught up with Craig Townsend and his partner Donna for a coffee, who are also here in the city of Barcelona.
After a good chat, we caught the bus and started our tour, we saw many buildings completed by Gaudi, and ended up on top of a hill at the Museum of Barcelona with a great panoramic view and magnificent fountain and waterfall. After taking some photos we got back on the bus and made our way towards the cable car.
The cable car took us from the top of the hill overlooking Barcelona, across the marina and down to the beach. It was a great ride and there was plenty to see. We then went for a short walk and found a place for lunch. It was quite hot and the chance to sit in the shade with a slight breeze was most welcome.
After lunch we walked a bit more, jumped on and off the HOHO Bus, did some shopping and made our way back to the hotel. Steve and Larry had a couple of beers and watched a replay of the footy, while the girls had a rest.
We then went out for a bit more shopping and dinner, before heading back to the hotel about 8:30pm. We sat on the balcony for a while and watched the hustle and bustle of La Rambla below us. This even included a parade of oversized cultural statues. We then headed to bed about 10pm as we are getting picked up at 6:45am tomorrow to go hot air ballooning.

Neil Good that you could catch up with Craig & Donna. Don't suppose you saw Helen & Helmut while you were riding around in the top of the bus? :)
