We got to Monkey Mia (where you can feed the dolphins) on one of the
days. The next morning we were up early, well about 7:30 to go see the
little devils in action. We thought we had got there early, but about
40 other people had obviously 'got there early' for the normal feed
time of 8am. Only a few people get chosen to feed the dolphins and
when the girl said 'sir, you with the camera' I didnt react until she
said 'you with the beanie' - was well suprised to have been chosen but
went and fed the thing, pretty cool - altho the brochure says 'truly a
life changing experience' - im however not quite sure on their claim!
We also visited Shark Bay, which is another world heritage site and
were sure we saw some sharks...welll there were some black things
moving the opposite way to the current and im sure I spotted a few....
After this we also went to shell beach, which as you can imagine is
made up of...well, shells! On the last few days we saw the pinnicles
which are loads of rocks (yes more rocks) which stick up from the
ground...theres loads of info but yeh errrrr i forgot it and who cares!
After all this we drove back to Perth and then further down south to
Fremantle, the first town established on the west coast - then
Perth took the limelight. Also another 3 hours drive down here was
Margaret River, mainly a wine region and stuff like that. We
did the obligatory wine tasting, cheese tasting (where I wanted to be
sick) and a chocolate factory (ohh thats why I felt sick at the cheese
place - too many free chocs before!).
Most camp sites we stayed in had kitchens....one such kitchen we managed to get locked in....The sign
said the kitchen would be locked at 9:30 - to which we presumed
(stupidly hmm) that someone would be along to lock up, oh no no no, after
washing up our stuff Leah went to open the door...err guys the doors
locked (yeh whatever Leah....) I tried and indeed the handle just span
and span, great! The windows also had fly nets on which were
glued/welded in! While me and Leah were pissing ourselves Katherine
spent a few minutes shouting out the window for help in quite a distressed young girl sort of way - some old bloke
came to help and we just ripped the fly net off....staff eventually
arrived.......in histerics! Thinking it was hilarious we got locked
in,,,err yeh cheers guys!
In total our mileage was 3898 kilometres, just shy of the 4k mark, but
good work none the less! Ohh I also caught myself saying G'day not in
jest but as part of my vocab - worrying!
