We headed to Streaky Bay for a few nights and got a site right on the beach. We could step outside the van and take 1 step and we are on the beach. It is amazing, the water is crystal clear and this place is very relaxing.
We decided to explore some of the sights with Lynette and Warren. The scenic drive took in the blowholes and whistling rocks, sections of the Great Australian Bight and Murphy's Haystacks. The highlight was the Sea Lion colony. This is the largest sea lion colony on the Australian mainland, we saw about 70. It was great to watch them, especially the young playful ones which were quite mischievous.
Regrettably this is another caravan park where we have been repremanded for unruly behaviour late at night. We must stop these wild nights and try to get to bed by 8.00pm like most of the silver travellers. We had been sitting in the bbq shelter with another 4 couples, two of which had started drinking late afternoon. The funny thing was we were fishing at the wharf in Coffin Bay the following day and was talking to this chap who said he had left Streaky Bay because of a wild party that was going on the night before until 11.30. We actually adjourned at 10.10 pm after someone came up to us. We said to him how terrible it was, fully realising it was us he was talking about.
Next destination Coffin Bay.
