Steve & Anne Not in a Van
Hola
In Cusco, which is apparently the navel of the world !(some Inca theory)Just returned from a 5 day trek to Macchu Picchu. Was absolutely amazing. Hard going, but jaw droppingly beautiful. Hiked to 4800m which was testing, but walked through glacier topped valleys, canyons and jungle all in 4 days. Staying in tents in the remotest places, bloody freezing at night(needed my alpaca jumper) but bright sunshine every day.Met some of the locals who live the most amazing basic lifestyles and the kids who are the most inquisitive and friendly. And capped by Macchu Picchu which was awesome. Got up there early to miss the tourist hoards so saw the sun rise onto the ruins. Hiked up Waynapicchu which looks down onto the old citadel. One hour of uphill steps in the sun but worth the outstanding views from the top!.Just fantastic. Travelled here from Lake Titicaca which was also very beautiful. Took a boat trip to islands made completely of reeds which have been there for 400 years. The original tribes still live there, we'd never seen anything like it.Travelling down to chile tomorrow, looking forward to the 20hour bus ride! Thanks for the messages, keep them coming(The picture is of chile by the way. Trying to down load some of our own pictures but not figured it out yet.)
