A flying stop here as we'd forgotten our previously well-honed instincts as travelers and having not done our research, got to this festival town on the day the festival ended. We did however go to probably the most interesting museum of our trip; the Gandhi museum. The first section of the place was a history of India and a no holds barred description of the English rule. It was very moving and interesting and embarrassingly taught me a lot of things that I feel I should already know about colonial rule in India and indeed other parts of the world. The second half was given over to Gandhi's life, including the tunic that he was wearing when he was shot and a letter from him to Hitler, urging him not to go to war. Very very interesting.
The city itself was the usual bustle of horns and crazy traffic and we are looking forward to finding somewhere a bit more peaceful as we end for the west coast.
