So this is our penultimate Indian blog, we arrived in Goa from Hampi having spent our most enjoyable train journey so far as we shared a compartment with an Indian couple and their very cute daughter who kept us entertained. We decided that after such a stressful year what we really needed was a bit of beach time to round of our trip. Having read the guide book and spoken to people the advice was to head to south Goa for the best beaches. We grabbed a lift to Palolem off a guy who was heading that way from the train station in Madgaon but having walked the length of the beach decided that Palolem was a bit too busy for us. We wandered across to Patnem before taking a rickshaw to Agonda which is a much quieter beach.
We have spent one day doing nothing and then today we hired some mopeds to cruise along coast visiting a couple of beaches but mainly just enjoying the open road, happily Goan roads seem to be a lot quieter than elsewhere. We did take a wrong turn and had to do a 360 round a roundabout on the outskirts of madgaon which was pretty hairy but we felt pretty confident on the bikes by then, indeed Alison was getting a bit cocky when she picked up a hitchhiker on hers. Winding our way home along the coastal road with the sun setting over the ocean on our right and forest covered hills to our left was a pretty spectacular end to the day.
We plan on spending the next couple of days on the beach before we fly up to Mumbai on Tuesday for a couple of nights and then it's one more flight back to sunny (it's summer now right?) old blighty.
