Airlie Beach

After writing my last blog entry, that night we went out for a few drinks in the bar in our hostel after having food. It was ridiculas trying to cook in the kitchen, its tiny...infact its proberly the size of our old kitchen at home. Don't ask me how they worked that one out when there is a 200 dorms!! Crazy!! So after food we went into the bar, it was packed. After having a couple of drinks, we decided to head to the Irish Bar where there was a man playing Guitar, he was pretty rubbish, he didnt know the words in songs and i swear he was pretending to play the Guitar!! After a while Claire decided to head back to bed as her tummy was a little dodgy. Once we had taken her home me and loz decided to stay out and get drunk! Too be fair we did only have a couple of nights in Airlie and we wanted to make the most of it!! And we did....oh dear it was a very messy night, and its all Wainwrights fault!! He gave us a call and told us we had to try a new shot, it was called Gorilla Snorts. It had Port and Baileys in it, oh my god it just curldered!! After that drink we were well away and the vodka and sambucas were going down a treat. We didnt end up getting in until 4am that morning after going to the pie shop...... oh yeah and loz had two pies! hehe!!

Day 2

So today we were very hungover....... i got uo at 8.30am feeling terrible. I went and used the net while the other pair were sleeping. Claire soon rang though, she was straving so we went for breakfast. As you have proberly guessed Loz stayed in bed till 1.30pm!! In this time me and Claire did all the washing and drying, booked the rest of our buses, sent parcels home - we were good that day and all that with a hangover! That night we just had dinner in the bar and had a well deserved early night ready for our trip around the Whitsundays!! :-)

Day 3

We had to check out of our room at 10am, we were relly excited about going on the Clipper, we had heard all good things about the boat! We werent departing the Lagoon until 2.30pm so we had to waste. We grabbed breakfast and then just went on the net. 2.30pm finally came so we headed off to Glorias Cafe to wait for the tour guide to come coollect us. There were loads of people waiting, we recognised a few peoplethat me and Loz had met on our crazy night out. Everyone had their crates of beer and the dreaded Goon! (Goon is a nasty wine!) Rolli (crew member) came down to get us and we were all prepared for 3days of fun!! The boat was cool, it was really big one with a huge top deck and Hot Tub. We had a triple room to ourselves which was good, it was tiny though! We got moved from our first room they oput us in which was good as it really smelt. After what looked like hard work on behalf of the crew members they put up the sails and we sailed through Unsafe Passage past Southmole Island. When we got to Hook Island the ankor went down and we were settled for the night, we had a lovely barbqued Fish meal. There were 50 people on the boat so the chef did really well. After food, the fun began and drinking games started!! I wasnt really drinking though as our beers werent cold as they had not long been put in the fridge!! I still joined in though. We had to be up at 7am so i was quite pleased they were warm!! Oh yeah nearly forgot we also got 35 people in the Hot Tub. Apparently the record was 30....... we had to beat it!! :-) Was a right laugh as you will see from the photos!!

Day 4

Day two of the trip (Wednesday 23rd) we got a wake up call at 7am and went upstairs for some breakfast. We left hook Island and went to Corner Bay where they dropped us off. We did a 600m walk to see a beautiful Lookout called the Whitsuudays Island. We then walked back down and headed to Whitehaven Beach for a few hours, we however got lost walking back and went right back down to the bottom, we didnt see the sign!! hehe! After we found the beach we sunbathed for a bit while other people went in the water with their Stinger suits on. It also rained a couple of times, we got soaked! After a long walk back we then had a lovely luch back on the boat and then we sailed past Dunbell Island and back to Hook Island. Here we stopped and everyone went snorkalling. I decided not too again so me and Kate went on to the little island and chatted for a bit and took in some more rays!! Everyone on had to wear their stinger suits everytime theuy went into the water, if one stung you it could be fatel. Loz and Claire enjoyed snorkalling the Great Barrier Reef however they did say it was a little cloudy. They had an under water camera so hopefully the pictures will come out ok! After a couple of hpurs chilling on the island we then went back to the boat and sailed through Round Corner to Haymen Island and stopped in Blue Pearly Bay for the night. After dinner and a couple of chilled out beers (now they were cold!) talking to everybody the boys decided to get the drinking games started again. This was a mistake as me and Loz decided we should finish all of our beer as we didnt want to carry it back to the hostel. After quite a few beers i got full and decided to drink Goon (lethal stuff) with Leanne. She was so funny when we were playing the games, we had a right laugh. I didnt end up going to bed until 3.30am......was an excellent night!!

Day 5

After yet another early wake up call for breakfast at 7am, people got chance to snorkal again, so Loz and Claire headed off in the speed boat whilst me and a few other girls chilled out on the top deck!! And oh yes i had a headache.....im never drinkking Goon again!! At about 11am e then had lunch, and headed back to Airlie beach Lagoon as it was the end of our trip :(

I had an awesome 3 days, we had great weather and met some really nice people. We have arranged to go out when we get back home with a couple of people who live in Leicester and we are meeting people in New Zeland too! Tonight were going to a place called Morrocos to meet the girls for food and then were having an after party including crew members so it should be a good laugh. I'm not drinking though, going to detox now until we got to New Zeland!

Tomorrow we are hetting a bus at 9.05 to Mission Beach which is going to take 7hours!! Joy! But were going to be ready for white water rafting!! Cant wait!

Will update again now after Cairnes....... Hope all are well and enjoying the lovely weather back at home! Hope your not jealous!!
