Day 146 - Sunday 25th July
Strolled the nice colonial town of Antigua, set to a background of 3 different volcanoes, one of which erupting the week previous. Some sort of children's day so all the schoolkids out in parades, including a wicked drum set from a music college. Not much to do in the town so just enjoyed coffee and food around town.
Day 147 - Monday 26th July
Same story. HUGE lightning storm. Bought a Guatemalan shirt. Had schnitzel for the first time...
Day 148 - Tuesday 27th July
After yet another pancake breakfast we set out to break the system and organise our own way to Lanquin rather than pay for a shuttle. After a lot of waiting and slow buses, got to Coban and crammed into a tiny minibus with 100 (or so) other people for the 3hr 68km journey along bumpy roads. Was not great for my broken rib!! But anyway, long after dark made it to beautiful Lanquin and settled for some decent food and making friends with people well connected with guys I know back home...
