Good news guys, we can surf (as you can see in the picture lol) On Thursday we had our 3 hour surfing lesson. For the first hour we learnt all about reading waves and rips etc, also he taught us how to catch a wave just laying down! For the rest of the lesson we learnt how to stand up and ride the wave back to the beach! Steven was really good at it and stood up lots and I was good aswell and stood up a few times. But I found it very hard work and have injuries from when I kept falling off! That night we went out to Cheeky Monkeys. One girl from the trip, Lucy, decided to take part in the wet t-shirt competition which was funny. She came second and won $200 worth of jewelry to spend in Byron Bay, the only problem was that we were leaving early the next day and couldn't spend it. Friday was the big day of travelling to Sydney. We set off at 6am and arrived at 6pm. That night we went out with a few from the group to say our final goodbyes. While we was out we saw some people that were in our group in the Northern Territory. Saturday morning we changed hostels to a cheaper one! In the afternoon we took a picnic to the harbour and ate it by the Opera House. It was boiling hot and just a fantastic day for the weather. We then walked through the Botanical Gardens which are stunning and then through Hyde Park. We walked to and from the Opera House which is quite far which is very pleasing lol. We went out in Darling Harbour with a few from the group. There was a firework display on the water and it was ace. Much better than Sincil Banks attempts! Yesterday was very exciting. Me, Steven and George went to watch Sydney Swans vs Port Adelaide Power playing an Aussie Rules Football match. It was a really good game and the atmosphere was really good because it was their first home match of the season and they paraded the Cup around the stadium which they won last year! Unfortunately they lost 106-80 (they did make a massive comeback in the last quarter) but we got a free Sydney Swans hat and a free beer or wine back at the side bar after the game! It was very hot watching the game and I got burnt on my chest lol. Last night we went out with George, Fran and Jenny for tea. We went to Scruffy Murphy's and stayed to watch the football. But we were so knackered that after half an hour of it we went to bed lol. Today we are going for another picnic but this time we are going to have it in the botanical gardens. Then we are going to the tower to overlook Sydney. Love Steph and Steven x x
